Working at heights awareness course
This course is to give the basic knowledge required for any person
who is likely to be working at heights.
Duration 1 Day 6 hrs min

Aim:
To identify the basic hazards involved in working at height & the awareness of those hazards.
Objective:
To establish all students completing the course are competent in Pre – use inspections, correct fitting of equipment together with the knowledge of anchorage points, fall arrest inertia reels, vertical & horizontal systems. They will also be made aware of current UK legislation, which applies when working at height.

Types of protection collective, personal (Scaffold, MEWP, Edge protection etc)
Fall protection systems. (Fall restraint Work positioning, fall arrest, & rescue).
Harness correct use & donning
Lanyards / restraint & shock absorbing correct use of.
Connectors correct type & use of connectors
Pre – use inspections
Static & Dynamic loads of harnesses & lanyards.
Anchor systems & loading.
Correct use of inertia blocks (fall arrest blocks) & basic rescue procedures.
Vertical & Horizontal systems
General care & maintenance
On completion of session a written exam with a 70% pass mark is required.
On successful completion of exam & practical training a certificate for each candidate will be issued confirming the candidate has successfully completed a Basic Working at Height Awareness course including donning, inspection, anchorage etc.
